Tbilisi State University


In 1987 Tamar started a six years study at Tbilisi State University at the faculty of philology. She worked on old Georgian literature with speciality in hagiography. In her master thesis Tamar made a comparative study on frescos and hagiography, emphasising the influence from Georgian hagiography on Georgian fresco-painters. The title of her master thesis was "Saint Ninos life in the churches of Svetitskhoveli and Bodbe". Tamar's thesis and choise of theme was recognized as highly inovative at her institute. From 1994 Tamar continued to work within the same sphere in her Ph.D- studies, however extending the theme of her master-thesis.




Norwegian scholarships


Tamar developed an interest for Norwegian literature, establishing contacts with the University of Oslo in Norway. She was granted a one year RCN-scholarship in Norwegian language in 1994-1995. From 1996-1998 Tamar received two scholarships on Norwegian literature assigned by the University of Oslo. Tamar got increasingly interested in Norwegian art, and in 2000 she was awarded the scholarship of Gustav Vigeland. She worked on comparative studies of Vigeland and Georgian art of sculpture and with the thesis "Gustav Vigelands art of sculpture and Georgian art of sculpture from the period of Nikoladze up to now".



Teacher


In 1994 Tamar started teaching Norwegian language and culture at the Tbilisi State University, and from 1996 a department for Scandinavian languages was estabelished at the university. From 1997 Tamar started working as teacher in Georgian language and literature at the French-Georgian college "Saint-Exupery" in Tbilisi. She was also the editor of "The Little Prince", the magazine at the same college. From 1998 Tamar also have had private students, teaching language, literature, religion and art-history. In 2009/2010 she was a part of a project, teaching Georgian language to Norwegians and in 2010/2011 Tamar was teaching Georgian language, literature and culture at the Ecole Francaise du Caucase.
